Tiffany Taylor

Associate in Arts

YVC graduate Tiffany Taylor earned her associate in arts degree in June. A single mother who had worked a series of customer service jobs, Taylor decided she wanted more for herself and her daughter. During the fall of 2012 she enrolled at YVC with the goal of pursing a nursing degree.

“I chose YVC because I had heard good things about their biology courses,” stated Taylor. She credits much of her success to the dedicated YVC instructors who wouldn’t let her give up on her future. “During English 101 Instructor Gordon Koestler shared his personal testimony of how he went from working in graveyard to graduate school,” stated Taylor. “This testimony, along with a commonly used phrase ‘don’t do this all for nothing’, became an inspiration to me. I would rely on these words of encouragement during difficult times to push me to continue,” she said. “Mom’s sometimes need encouragement to keep going,” she concluded. Another influential faculty member was Biology Instructor Matthew Loeser. Taylor excelled in her coursework and will begin Washington State University’s Nursing Program located on the YVC Yakima Campus this fall. She plans to focus her nursing career working with children’s village or hospice. She also hopes to pursue future training to become a nurse practitioner.
