Terrell Evans

Associate in Arts

Terrell Evans was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and raised by his grandparents. Evans enjoyed a carefree childhood and always loved playing basketball. After graduating high school, he decided to pursue his passion and chose to attend YVC in the fall of 2009. “Basketball played a major part in my decision to attend YVC,” stated Evans. With the encouragement of YVC coaches, Evans was able to further his athletic and academic career. “Coach Ray Funk emphasized the importance of achieving a bachelor’s degree and showed me that my passion for basketball could be the vehicle to reach my goals. Coach Funk, Oldham, and Wilson as well as the YVC staff and community taught me so much. YVC gave me confidence to spread my horizon to different things in life,” he continued. Excelling both academically and athletically, he earned an associate in arts degree in June of 2011. “After my two years at YVC, I had a bright future ahead of me. Having received my associate’s degree and becoming a much improved basketball player, many doors opened for me to continue my education and basketball career,” he continued. Evans was recruited to play basketball at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in recreation. His success on the court also earned him the opportunity to play professional basketball overseas.
