Francisco Luquin

Associate in Business

Francisco Luquin was born in Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico and moved to the United States with his mother when he was 18 months old. As a junior in high school, he decided to enroll in YVC’s Running Start Program. “I love the environment at YVC,” stated Luquin. “At high school people judge and compare themselves to each other, but that doesn’t happen here,” he continued.

Luquin is excelling in his coursework and has enjoyed the opportunity to learn in a college classroom. “I have a passion for learning. I would recommend YVC’s Running Start Program to anyone else who share’s this passion,” he concluded. In addition to his school work, Francisco works part-time at La Casa Hogar as an information technician, where he assists staff members with computer issues.

He will graduate in June 2017 with an associate in business degree and his high school diploma. He plans to transfer to Central Washington University and pursue an accounting degree. His goal is to own his own business that teaches and supports people in understanding financial literacy. This January, Francisco was also excited to learn that both he and his mother were granted US citizenship.
