Art Exhibit – Steve Jensen: BOTS

Larson Gallery
Working glass artist Steve Jensen comes from a long tradition of Norwegian fishermen and boat builders. His current body of work, “Böts,” explores the universal image of the boat and its representation of journeying. We are excited to host an exhibit featuring Jensen’s profound exploration of our world’s natural resources via art.

Book Discussion – Fresh Banana Leaves

Noted Indigenous scientist and community advocate Jessica Hernandez, PhD will give an author presentation on April 27 (more details below). Leading up to her visit free copies of her book “Fresh Banana Leaves: Healing Indigenous Landscapes through Indigenous Science,” are available in the ASYVC office on either campus. Discussions will be led by members the Climate and Environment club.

Black Box Poetry Slam

April 6 @ 6:00 p.m.

Hosted in partnership with LiTFUSE. Doors open for sign up at 6:00 p.m., event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $2 cash, which becomes the prize pot for the top three artists. All forms of spoken word are welcome. Performers are expected to have five poems/spoken word pieces prepared and there is a three-minute time limit for each piece. Come get loud, click, clap, stomp and hear great poetry!

Meal Planning on a Budget

Stuck in a dinner rut? Come learn about low-cost, easy to cook meals from items available at the ASYVC food pantry or local grocery store. Students will learn tips and tricks for low-cost meals and meal planning, sample meal ideas and take home food bags with ingredients to make meals at home. Space is limited and advanced registration is required.
