Applications to be our student speaker are due April 14, 2023

Are you proud of your amazing accomplishment? Would you like to have the opportunity to share your reflections with Fellow 2023 graduates?

Commencement is a time to showcase some of the brightest and most unique students. Graduating college can be one of the biggest and most empowering accomplishments and often is a time to bring unity, camaraderie and solidarity amongst those who have earned this achievement.

The selected YVC student speaker is responsible for writing a speech highlighting student life, community, as well as the diversity that exists here at Yakima Valley College. The speech will be presented during YVC’s 94th Commencement Ceremony, held June 16 at 6:00 p.m. at the Yakima Valley SunDome. The student speaker will be seated on the platform along with the college president and other distinguished guests.

Applicants are judged and selected by a committee comprised of students, instructors, and staff.  If you believe you would be a good choice for speaking at the commencement ceremony, please fill out the application and turn in with your bio and speech by April 14, 2023.
