YVC’s Music Program Offers New String Orchestra Ensemble

Yakima, WA – Starting Winter Quarter, YVC’s Music Department will be offering a new String Orchestra ensemble. The group is open to both students and community musicians.  This will be a fun group dedicated to simply getting together to play through the string orchestra repertoire. Rehearsals will happen weekly, with the goal of regular performances in the future both on campus and in the community. Join us for an information session on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 9:30am or Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 7:00pm in Kendall Hall, Building 12, Room 120.

The YVC Music Department provides students with academic courses and performing opportunities in vocal and instrumental music as well as opportunities for private lessons. The department offers courses ranging from Music Appreciation and History of Jazz, to Music of the World and 20th Century Music. These courses are designed for students who have an interest in music as a non-major. Students choosing to pursue a degree in music should follow a program leading to an associate in arts degree and then transfer to a college or university that offers music as a major. Courses designed for students who are majoring in music include Music Theory and Class Piano.
