YVC’s Jazz Band Hosts Open Auditions

Yakima, WA – Do you have an interest in jazz? Do you play the saxophone, trombone, trumpet, guitar, bass, or drums? YVC’s Music Department would like to invite you to audition to join the YVC Jazz Band. Learn about jazz styles and improvisation, participate in concerts and workshops, meet and perform with guest artists from around the world, attend concerts and conferences and travel and perform with the band.

Information and informal auditions will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2019 from 1:00-3:00pm in Kendall Hall, Building #12, Room 120. Open to YVC students and community members. Talent grants are available.

The YVC Music Department provides students with academic courses and performing opportunities in vocal and instrumental music as well as opportunities for private lessons. The department offers courses ranging from Music Appreciation and History of Jazz, to Music of the World and 20th Century Music. These courses are designed for students who have an interest in music as a non-major. Students choosing to pursue a degree in music should follow a program leading to an associate in arts degree and then transfer to a college or university that offers music as a major. Courses designed for students who are majoring in music include Music Theory and Class Piano.
