YVC Student Creates Student Film Celebrating Campus Diversity

Harleen Kaur, a student at Yakima Valley College, has created a student film celebrating diversity on YVC’s campus. You can view Harleen’s video here: “Yakima Valley College” A Student Film (2018).

About the project

Harleen began by interviewing a wide variety of students, asking them about the ways in which they identify themselves. She then had her subjects write their identities on cards and hold them up in front of the camera. The result is a striking representation of the many communities and identities that come together to learn at YVC.

The project was completed as part of her Small Group Communication class. Harleen is a Running Start student who will graduate this June both from East Valley High School and Yakima Valley College. Having earned her A.A. DTA, Harleen will transfer to Central Washington University in the fall to study administrative management.
