YVC Offers New Associate in Computer Science DTA/MRP
Yakima, WA – Beginning Spring Quarter 2018, Yakima Valley College’s Information Technology Program offers students the opportunity to earn a new Associate in Computer Science Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA). This pathway will provide students with a solid foundation, preparing them for competitive computer science programs at universities in Washington state. The new degree is designed to help meet the local need for qualified programmers; currently there are more jobs for software developers than there are computer science graduates.
The Associate in Computer Science DTA is the newest direct transfer agreement between the state’s community/technical college system and universities, and the only one offered in Eastern Washington. YVC offers this degree for students choosing to earn a pre-computer science degree in preparation for transfer. Graduates with a 2.0 GPA or better will be admitted to universities as juniors with all or most prerequisites for the computer science major completed.
