Central Washington Artists’ Exhibition

On display November 4 – December 9

Celebrating its 68th year at the Larson Gallery, the Central Washington Artists’ Exhibition showcases the most current and innovative artwork being produced in this region. The juror for this year’s exhibition is Jessica Rubenacker, director of exhibits at the Wing Luke Museum in Seattle.

The call to artists resulted in 232 pieces entered by 97 artists from Kittitas, Walla Walla, Grant, Benton, Chelan, Franklin and Yakima counties. The juror selected 69 pieces representing 47 artists for the exhibit.

Rubenacker provides leadership and oversight of the Wing Luke Museum’s community-based exhibition development process. She returned to the museum after managing the City of Redmond Arts Program. Rubenacker is also a guest instructor for the museology graduate program at the University of Washington and is on the board for Historic South Downtown in Seattle. She holds a master’s in museology from the University of Washington and bachelor’s in both painting and art history from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

“I was honored to serve as a guest juror for this year’s Central Washington Artists’ Exhibition,” said Rubenacker. “The range and variety of both media and subjects were captivating and exciting to engage with.”

Several special awards are given during the show. The awards are made possible through the generosity of Banner Bank, Larson Gallery Guild, Yakima Enological Society, Rob and Michelle Wyles, Linda Kaminski, Kurt & Melissa Labberton, Leo Adams, Jeffrey Schaap and Gilbert Young, Jeffrey Reynolds, Christian and Janet Schlect, and the Baha’i Fund of Yakima.
