Linzy Mutch

Associate in Arts

Linzy Mutch attended YVC through the Running Start Program as a junior at West Valley High School. After studying at the college for a year, Mutch decided to return to high school during her senior year, making it easier to focus on her commitment to marching band and allowing her to share in the memorable high school experiences with her classmates. Graduating from high school in 2012 she reenrolled at YVC to complete the coursework needed for an associate in arts degree. Linzy graduated this June. In the fall she will transfer to Central Washington University (CWU) to pursue a degree in mathematics and teaching. “Math is something I have always loved,” stated Linzy Mutch. “I think this is an area that we need more teachers. I feel too many kids hate math because of teachers. I hope to help this issue by teaching in the Yakima Valley following my degree,” she concluded. In addition, Linzy has been selected as a members of CWU’s Robert Noyce SMART Program. She was awarded $35,000 for two-years. The program provides science and mathematics students, pursuing a teaching degree, funding to help them accomplish their educational goals.
