Kendra Cleaver

Associate in Arts

Kendra Cleaver was born and raised in Nyssa, Oregon. A talented athlete, she played softball all through high school. After she graduated in 2015, Cleaver, with the help of family members, called area community colleges to see if they were in need of a 1st baseman. YVC responded, offering a lower tuition rate and scholarship package, which convinced her YVC was the right choice.

“Before reaching out to different colleges I had never heard of Yakima before,” stated Cleaver. “I have really enjoyed everything about YVC. It is a beautiful campus. Every instructor I have had here has been exceptional in all aspects and very understanding of the struggles of student athletes,” she continued.

When she’s not on the field, Kendra has work-study responsibilities with YVC’s athletic program. She helps run the concession stand during basketball games, washes laundry for the fitness center and various sports, and helps maintain the fields.

Kendra will graduate in the summer of 2017. She plans to transfer to a four-year university and earn a teaching degree. Ultimately, she hopes to work in education administration.
