State-of-the-art, simulated surgical suites on YVC’s campus give students an opportunity to learn in a real-life environment. Clinical practice in hospital operating rooms, surgery center operating rooms, surgical processing services, and labor and delivery centers provides hands-on experience to prepare students for entry-level positions as surgical technologists.

The career offers competitive pay with an average wage in the Yakima area of $28.57 per hour or $59,420 annually, and a Washington state average of $35.38 per hour or $73,580 annually according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics as of May 2023.
