Auditions for “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” set for Sept. 21-23

The Yakima Valley College Drama Department will host auditions for its fall production, the Tony Award-winning musical comedy “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” September 21–23. Performances will be November 3 – 5 and November 10 – 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Alicia Bickley, director of drama, will direct the production with musical direction by Steven Slusher, director of choral music.

Auditions for the production will take place from 6 – 9 p.m. on September 21 and 22 in Kendall Hall Auditorium (Building 12) on the college’s Yakima Campus. Callbacks will take place from 6 – 9 p.m. on September 23 in Kendall Hall Auditorium.

Auditions are open to the community with roles for actors of various genders ages 18 and older; YVC students will be given first consideration for all roles. No theater experience is necessary. Those auditioning should prepare a short contemporary piece (no longer than one minute) to sing and bring sheet music for the piece. Wear comfortable clothes that can be easily moved in during auditions.
