Specific Objectives of the Training

By the time the trainee leaves the placement he/she will have developed his/her intrinsic understanding of all aspects of winter activities carried out in the fruit production profession.

Skills to be Acquired by the Trainee:

Trainees will enhance and/or acquire the following skills:

  1. Acquire special skills in training and management high density cherry trees (22+varieties, several modern training systems including UFO)
  2. Learn pruning strategies for pear, apple and grape orchards
  3. Become familiar with apple storage facilities
  4. Assist in equipment maintenance (incl. labor mgt. software)
