We are a second-generation family-owned boutique winery located about 5 miles east of St. Helena in Napa Valley. Since 1990, we have been producing small-lot, estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Chardonnay. Our case production is roughly 3,000 cases annually. One of Seavey’s most important goals is to serve as excellent stewards of the land. By developing virtuous circles of connection between our farming and winemaking, we promote farming regenerative and sustainable operations, and winemaking operations that rely on renewable energy and minimize
resource use and reduce waste.

We are seeking an enthusiastic self-motivated team player to join our dynamic & passionate team as a Harvest Enologist. The position will work directly with our winemaker in both the on-site vineyard and winery. Harvest is hard work, but the nature of our small team combined with the estate vineyard offers candidate a hands-on and comprehensive experience in all the critical points of winemaking at harvest. This position is designed to teach people how to make world-class wine. The position will start in mid August and end around Thanksgiving with potential to last longer depending on the harvest yield.

Primary responsibilities include:
• Basic viticultural tasks as the grapes ripen.
• Grape sampling and juice processing including basic wet chemistry analysis.
• Work with harvest processing equipment including pumps, destemmer, sorting tables, optical sorter, presses, and general winemaking equipment
• Tank, winery, hose and general sanitation.
• Pump-overs and manual punchdowns.
• Fermentation tracking and nutrient management.
• Tasting to identify quality levels and potential wine faults.
• Reading and adhering to details of written work orders.
• Barrel evaluation, preparation, filling, racking, sanitation, and repair.
• Interacting with guests to explain the harvest processes and promote Seavey wines.
• Other property and farm work as needed. We have cows, sheep, goats, chickens, dogs, and cats on the estate.

Job Details
• This person will be responsible to follow all of the company established health and safety procedures.
• The position reports to our Winemaker.
• Work will begin in August at 40 hours per week and then escalate to include weekends as the volume of harvest work increases at the end of September into October. Workdays rarely exceed 10 hours in a day.

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must be willing to work 7 days a week at the peak of harvest (usually a 2-3 week period)
• Team-oriented with positive contribution to harmony and collaboration among peers
• Self-motivated and results driven
• Solid knowledge of viticulture, wine, and wine production.
• Must be able to lift & carry 45 lbs., work on ladders, and work standing for long periods
• Reliable transportation required

• The Harvest Enologist will follow the grapes all the way from the vines through processing, fermentation,
and to finished wine in barrels
