Gilbert Cellars is a small, family-owned winery located just outside Yakima, Washington. Using primarily estate grown fruit, we focus on making wines that showcase the high potential of the Yakima Valley.

We are looking to expand our production team by bringing on a full-time cellar hand. This position offers the opportunity to become an integral part of the winery at every phase of the process. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and eager to learn. This position would also involve working shifts in the tasting room during non-harvest periods of the year.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate cellar equipment including but not limited to pumps, presses, crusher/de-stemmer, grape elevator, auger, plate and frame filters, and bottling line.
  • Collaborate with the winemaker in planning and scheduling all cellar activities
  • Moving, racking, and blending wine
  • Calculating and administering additions
  • Topping barrels
  • Monthly inventory of cased goods and bulk wine
  • Sanitation and cleanliness of the winery and barrel room
  • Maintaining a log of all wine activities
  • Collect and run analysis on vineyard samples
  • Work shifts in the tasting room
  • Participate in events at the winery and elsewhere
  • Event set-up and tear-down

Skills & Requirements:

  • Previous wine cellar or beverage experience
  • Ability to work consecutive days with long hours during harvest
  • Ability to accurately calculate figures
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Possess a solid knowledge of wine, grape growing, and winemaking processes
  • Familiarity with the use of winemaking equipment
  • Must be able to operate a forklift
  • Must be able to operate work truck
  • Must be able to move up to
