Dental Assisting

Dental Assisting is a Yakima Valley College Workforce certificate program that is located at Yakima Valley Technical Skills Center, not on the Yakima Campus.

Students completing this one-year certificate program will train for a wide variety of dental office functions. Upon completion, dental assisting students are prepared to pass the Dental Assisting National Board’s Infection Control Exam and the Radiation Health Safety Exam. ​

Dental Assisting students are admitted fall quarter, subject to the number of qualified students and space available.

Dental Assisting students completing this one-year certificate program will train for a wide variety of dental office functions. Students in the YVC program follow the YVC Academic Calendar.

Admissions

Dental Assisting students submit the online YVC application, as well as the Dental Assisting program application, complete with required documents, subject to the the space available. The Dental Assisting program starts every fall quarter only. Student applications to the Dental Assisting program must provide all application documents prior to July 31st:

  • Completed a YVC application
  • Placement into English 101 or Math 080 (by placement test or course completion)
  • Completed a YVC Dental Assisting application
  • Proof of vaccination: see application for details
