Yakima Valley College is governed by a five-member board of trustees consisting of citizens who reside throughout Community College District 16. Board members are appointed by the Governor.

Public Records for a state institution include any record containing information relating to the conduct of college business that is prepared, owned, used, or retained by the college. Only existing documents are releasable.
YVC provides consumer information to the general public as well as students, faculty and prospective students. The state, federal laws and college policy under the HEA of 1965 dictates the criteria for this information.
Yakima Valley College Foundation exists to provide scholarships to students and support Yakima Valley College. Since its inception in 1977 the Foundation has provided many students with scholarships and financial assistance.
