Selecting your top college in the USA is a big decision

The 10 things every study abroad student should consider when making a decision to attend college in Yakima, Washington, USA.

  • Is the Application Process Easy?  - We have a very fast and easy application process for students looking at study abroad programs in the United States.

  • How big is the college or university?  - Because we are a smaller specialized college it allows us to respond to our students needs quicker, which lowers your barrier to entry, while assisting you through the application process.

  • Do I need to attend the top US college first?   - No, you can save a lot of time and money,  when you finish your first two years of required courses at a discounted rate with us,  then transfer and graduate at a top US college or university.

  • Does it have onsite campus housing or dorms?  - With us you can live on campus in our clean, safe and modern student housing and dorms which are cheap and affordable and near anything you need.

  • Where is the college located and positioned? - We are centrally located in the middle of a city with diverse history & culture that is driven by emerging and advancing agricultural industry, we supply delicious fruit, vegetables, beer and wine to the world, and we are just a 2 hour drive to the amazing city of Seattle, Washington where companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Nintendo, Starbucks and many more live.  We are about 3 hours away from Portland, Oregon.

  • What is the city and weather like? - Because of our strategic location it provides you with the best of both worlds, located in a valley with amazing four season weather and what seems like endless blue skies, located inland off the foot of the Pacific Northwest Cascade Mountains (we have been called the Palm Springs of Washington) because of our warm and sunny weather.  We offer the smaller city life that caters to all your urban needs while also providing you with exciting authentic cuisine, coffee shops and no shortage of shopping experiences. Here you will not get the headaches that come with big city life such as travel and parking problems, congestion, pollution, and inflated cost of living expense. Here things move just a little bit slower and that's ok, because when you are working towards your goal of achieving your degree from a top college or university the last thing you need is the added stress and distraction of a big city.

  • What is the environment like and what can I do for fun there? - You can explore and experience the beauty of the Pacific Northwest in all its natural splendor, because you are only a short distance to rugged wilderness, cascading mountains and fresh water falls, rivers or lakes. There will be many opportunities for you to take a break from your international studies and try some of the outdoor activities around the area. Your options range from climbing, hiking, biking, boating, canoeing, fishing, golfing and horseback riding here. You can also head downhill on skis, through the woods on cross-country skis or snowshoes; try water sports such as surfing, windsurfing, water skiing, scuba diving and swimming; rev up with a wheeled adventure (on and off-road, pedal-powered or motor-driven). One of the classic things you need to do is plan to float the Yakima River, it is a fun and relaxing experience while providing you with some of the most dramatic geological scenery you've ever seen.

  • What does the class size look like and how accessible is my instructor?  - The size of our classes are incredibly smaller than the top colleges and universities, for example a typical class here will range from 10 - 35 students, in comparison to other colleges and universities where a lecture class can be well over 300+.  All of our international students feel this add a tremendous amount of value, because when you are in a new environment, communicating in English, and settling into a new school the last thing you want to do is feel like you are getting lost in the crowds, you might need a little extra help to get you set up for success and that is that we do best.

  • How friendly are the people and the community?  - Yakima is known for its "Home Town Feeling" - we keep hearing from our international student that they really like the friendly atmosphere, the sense of community,  and how easy it is making friends and connections, that they plan to keep and take with them when they go, not to mention that we also receive new international students by word of mouth from student who have finished their program here and recommended us to others back home.

  • How much is this going to cost?  - This is probably one of the most important factors to consider when reviewing international study abroad programs is, how much will this cost?  We are significantly cheaper than a university or four year college, with us you can complete your first two 2 years of required lower level college credits, then apply and transfer to some of the best colleges and universities in the US to get your degree.
