The Parent Education Cooperative Preschool Program at YVCC is an
important
part of a network of 26 statewide community and
technical colleges providing high quality early childhood and parent
education programs to 14,000 families yearly. Each of the seven YVCC
preschool sites promotes the physical, social, emotional, and
intellectual development of young children, and supports parents in
their roles as primary caregivers and teachers of
their children.
Parents of children three to five years
old may join a YVCC affiliated preschool. Children attend preschool
two to three hours a day, for two to five days a week. In a toddler
co-op for parents and their children

18 months to three years old, for example, participants spend one morning a
week exploring and learning together, with parents acting as assistant
teachers. Activities vary from program to program.
