Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood Education Program believes that the needs of young children are best met by teachers and caregivers who are trained with a blend of classroom theory, competency based assignments and projects, interactive learning communities and and competency based laboratory experiences.  Students complete a portfolio exhibiting competence at each level of the program.  Student learn through the course content and methods of study that the critical years for child development are birth through five.  Learning activities for the child must be developmentally appropriate for the age and stage of development while meeting the needs of the whole child physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively.  The child must be guided in developing independence, self-control, cooperation and positive self-concept in a safe, healthy, multi-cultural learning environment where staff and parents play a critical role in the learning process.
