The Early
Childhood Education Program believes that the needs of young children
are best met by teachers and caregivers who are trained with a blend of
classroom theory, competency based assignments and projects, interactive
learning communities and and competency based laboratory experiences.
Students complete a portfolio exhibiting competence at each level of the
program. Student learn through the course content and methods of study
that the critical years for child development are birth through five.
Learning activities for the child must be developmentally appropriate
for the age and stage of development while meeting the needs of the
whole child physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively. The
child must be guided in developing independence, self-control,
cooperation and positive self-concept in a safe, healthy, multi-cultural learning environment where staff and parents play a critical
role in the learning process. Through classroom theory and hands-on laboratory experiences earn Certificates :
