Chemical Dependency Studies

The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Chemical Dependency Studies prepared students to work in the field of chemical dependency counseling.  Graduates will meet Washington State's educational requirements for Department of Health certification as a Chemical Dependency Professional.

For students who have a minimum of a two-year degree or have earned 35 college-level credits, the certificate-only program may be appropriate for you.

Mission Statement
To guide students on the path towards a positive, productive, rewarding life.

Career Options
Past graduates of the CD program have found employment in addiction treatment facilities, schools, hospitals, employee assistance programs, clergy, and with other community social service agencies.

Evening Classes
All chemical dependency-specific courses are held in the evenings.  Students may begin working in the field while getting their degree, taking one or more classes as they wish.

Open Enrollment
Students may enter the program at any time throughout the school year.  Federally funded financial aid is available to students who qualify.  A veteran's affairs office is located on the YVCC Yakima Campus.
