Local report — YVCC defense keys victory in crossover final
When the shots wouldn’t fall, the Yakima Valley women’s basketball team rode its defense to the High Hopes Crossover Tournament championship on Sunday at Sherar Gym.
The Yaks had 17 steals and forced 31 turnovers in overcoming mediocre 39-percent shooting in defeating Umpqua 87-82 in the title game. more...

letter of intent
to play for
Yakima Valley
Community
College this
fall. Gough
played three
years on the
varsity at Reno
High. She is
second all-time
in the history
of the state of
Nevada for
number of three
point goals made
in a season. She
hit 80 three’s
during her
senior year,
helping her team
to a 29-4 record
and a second
place finish at
the Nevada State
Championship.
Other honors
include being
named to the
2008 Sierra
League First
Team and 2008
Northern Nevada

YVCC signs Colton standout

YAKIMA -- Alisa Moehrle-Druffel, Colton High School's No. 2 career scorer, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Yakima Valley Community College.
Moehrle-Druffel, a 5-foot-9 guard-forward, compiled 1,209 points at Colton, helping the Wildcats finish third in the 2007 Class 1B state tournament in the SunDome and second last season. more...
