Lady Yaks roll past Blue Mountain 87-36
YAKIMA VALLEY 87, BLUE MOUNTAIN 36: At Sherar Gym, Andrea Blodgett scored 15 points and collected four steals as fifth-ranked Yakima Valley rolled past Blue Mountain.
The victory improved the Yaks to 4-2 in region play and 16-4 overall. The Timberwolves fell to 0-6 and 9-13.
"We pretty much had it going from the get-go," coach Cody Butler said. "We got to play a lot of people and work on some new stuff. It was a good win, and the girls didn't let up. They played hard the whole game."
Denise Gonzales added 12 points and Chelsey Nill had 10 for YVCC, which shot 52 percent from the field including 47 from 3-point range.
The Yaks led 47-21 at halftime.
Yakima Valley, which held Blue Mountain to 28 percent shooting and forced 28 turnovers, also outrebounded the Timberwolves 46-25 with Nill and Taitum Dixey grabbing six each.
YVCC will host Treasure Valley at 2 p.m. today.
