YAKIMA VALLEY 111, BLUE MOUNTAIN 57: At Pendleton, Ore., this time, Yakima Valley made sure there was no need for a last-second shot.
Despite having just eight players available because of injury and illness, the Yaks put on a devastating offensive display to wrap up third place in the East Region.
"We're trying to hold things together with bailing wire and bubble gum," YVCC coach Ray Funk said.
Things held up just fine Saturday as the Yaks raced to a 61-38 halftime lead and never looked back.
LeMar Anglin led five Yaks in double figures with 27 points, while Anthony Johnson added 21. Anglin also had 13 rebounds as Yakima Valley had a commanding 64-30 advantage in that department.
Jody Johnson added 18 points and nine rebounds, D.J. Whitsett had 14 points, and Mario Allen had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Yakima Valley improved to 9-4 in the region and 21-6 overall, the first time the men have posted a 20-win season since the 2003 team that won the NWAACC title.
