Local report — Yaks break away for soccer win

LONGVIEW — After battling to a scoreless tie for more than a half, Yakima Valley quickly settled things in its women's college soccer match against Lower Columbia on Wednesday.

Laura Sevigny broke the tie with a goal in the 53rd minute, and the Yaks added three more in the final 12 minutes as they rolled to a 4-1 victory.

Hannah Shattuck and Virginia Reynoso scored three minutes apart, and Molly Snell added one final tally in the last minute as Yakima Valley improved to 5-8-1.

Rachel Mohs had three assists, and Jessica Licea made just one save to earn the victory in goal.
