Coos Bay, OR- Jose Barajas and Jared Smith recorded pins, but Yakima Valley dropped a 27-18 decision to powerful Southwestern Oregon in a community college wrestling meet Saturday.

Barajas, a 125-pounder from Royal, pinned Matt Gardner in 4:32 while Smith, a 165-pounder from Stanwood, pinned Brandon O'brien in 6:43.

The Yaks could have tied or won with a victory in the heavyweight match, but Nate Huizar was pinned by the Lakers' Clay Wunder.

Yakima Valley will wreslte North Idaho in Coeurd 'Alene, Idaho on Friday night, the host Highline at 11 a.m. next Saturday in its first home match.
