COOS BAY, Ore. — Rebounding from a loss to Tacoma, Yakima Valley defeated Olympia to split its two first-day matches in the Southwestern Oregon Community College crossover volleyball tournament Friday.

YVCC defeated Olympia 30-20 and 31-29. That came after Tacoma beat the Yaks 30-21, 20-30, 15-11.

Nancy Donheo had 27 kills and Mari Cornejo had 21 kills to lead the Yaks for the day.
