As coach Chuck Bodeen put it simply, Brooke Bigby had
herself a day.
The Yakima Valley Community College freshman pitched back-to-back shutouts and was 2-for-3 in both games with five RBI as the Yaks swept Columbia Basin 6-0, 4-0 in NWAAC East Region play on Friday.
Bigby gave up only nine hits for the day, struck out eight and walked two for YVCC, which improved to 2-4 in region play and 5-11 overall.
Sophomore Eryn Beal was
3-for-4 and teammates Adrianna Mendoza and Casey Riedner were both 2-for-4 with a double in the opener.
Yakima Valley hosts Walla Walla today at noon.
