Course Placement

When students are placed in courses that fit their academic preparation and skill level, they are much more likely to stay in school and be successful in those courses.  Our goal at YVCC is to help you select courses that match the skills that you have in Math, English, and Reading.  To determine your current skill level, all students are required to take the ASSET test before registration.  With an advisor’s recommendation, you may re-test with the COMPASS if you feel the course placement results are not accurate.
