The purpose of advising at Yakima Valley Community College is to assist
you in making the best possible choices that will help you reach your
educational and career goals. Advising is the shared
responsibility of the student and the academic advisor. All students are assigned a faculty advisor based on
the area of interest indicated on the admissions application. Students should meet with their advisor each quarter to develop a plan
for their education and to insure that they are on the right track for
graduation. You may change your advisor at any time by completing a
Change of Advisor form available in the admissions office or in the
counseling center.
When to seek advising:
- To select courses before
registering for the next quarter
- To add or drop classes
- To apply for graduation
- To discuss academic difficulties
- To discuss transfer requirements
If you have additional questions, please email
advising.
