High School Transcripts

Students are requested to submit their transcripts for review when applying for admission. The review will help place in the correct courses.

English placement with HS transcripts

The goal of placement is to assess skills to ensure students are able to successfully engage with course content and have the best chances at passing the course. Your cumulative high school GPA of 3.2 or better can be used for English placement only.

Mathematics Placement Agreement

The Math department at Yakima Valley College (YVC) has made agreements with A.C. Davis, Eisenhower, Selah, and West Valley high school math departments regarding placement into a college-level mathematics course or Calculus I.

  • Students who have successfully completed Pre-Calculus with a C or better at one of the participating high schools will be given placement into any one of the following college-level courses: MATH& 107, MATH 111, MATH& 131, MATH& 141, OR MATH& 146.
  • Students who have successfully completed Calculus with a C or better at one of the participating high schools will be given placement into MATH& 151 or MATH& 148.

Students will need to turn in an official high school transcript to the Admissions office at YVC. All students should talk to an advisor regarding college-level math course choices.

How to submit your high school transcripts for placement into courses at YVC:

  • Please bring, (along with picture ID) your Smarter Balanced score report to Deccio Higher Education Building, Building 8 in Yakima or Grandview Main Building, Building 56 in Grandview.
