Step 1

  Come to the Information Night

Students preparing to apply and their parents should attend an Information Night. Information Nights are held throughout the year. (Attendance is not required to apply.)

Step 2

Get a Running Start application

Students and parents/guardians must complete and sign the application and it must be turned in at time of testing.

Step 3

Test to Determine Eligibility

To determine eligibility, students must take the Running Start placement test. Please see Testing link for more information.

Grandview campus Running Start applicants must schedule an appointment for placement testing. Schedule online

If you have taken the placement test at another college or are using your Smarter Balanced Assessment scores, turn in your Running Start application AND a copy of your test scores to the Running Start office. Do not send application and scores separately.

Step 4

Receive eligibility letter

About a week after testing students will receive a letter indicating their eligibility status and how to proceed.

To be eligible for Running Start, a student must place into English 101 (college-level English) and Math 085.
