Yakima Valley Community College Nursing Program
Important information for students anticipating applying for admission Fall 2016, or later. It is anticipated that beginning Fall 2016, the Nursing program will begin a Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) with one or more universities in Washington state. This will change the admission and graduation requirements. Please refer to our website as this information will be updated frequently with those changes.
The nursing profession is part of a centuries-old tradition of providing quality care for patients. Though the fundamental principles remain the same today, technology and a rapidly changing demographic require nursing professionals to broaden their skills and experience and apply them in a variety of settings.
The YVCC Nursing Program offers an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) that
is six quarters in length. The program provides a wide variety of learning opportunities and includes experiences in:
Critical Care Nursing
Mental Health Nursing
Upon successful completion of the fourth quarter of the ADN program, a student will be eligible to take the Practical Nursing Examination offered by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission.
Upon successful completion of the sixth quarter, a student will be eligible to take the Registered Nurse Examination offered by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission.
The Yakima Valley Community College Nursing program is fully accredited
by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and is approved
by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission. This accreditation is valid through March 2021.
