Lenny Price currently resides in Ellensburg WA where he teaches jazz saxophone and improvisation at both YVCC and Central Washington University. "Excellence is expected, commitment is required," he tells his students; these words clearly express his approach to learning and teaching music. Prior to relocating to the Pacific Northwest, Lenny was very active as a saxophonist, producer, arranger and educator in Detroit.
Lenny has established a reputation as a creative and versatile session player on recordings with a wide variety of artists including The Four Tops (Motown), Randy Crawford (Warner Bros.) and David Peaston (MCA). He has also performed internationally with acts including Keith Washington, Tamia, and The Temptations. So far, Lenny considers his ongoing touring and recording with Grammy-winner Earl Klugh to be the highlight of his career. Meanwhile, his own group, the Galileo Quartet, is enjoying success with their debut CD, Live at the Starlight.
In additional to maintaining voting membership in the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Recording Academy (the folks who present the Grammy Awards), Lenny is also an affiliated songwriter and publisher (Pricesongs Music) with Broadcast Music Inc (BMI). He was honored with the 2006 Promising Arts Leader Award for work in support of performing arts activities in the Ellensburg WA community.
