
Yakima Valley Community College Chican@ Studies Program promotes a
critical understanding of the roles of Chican@s in the history, culture, and
politics of the United States. Developing and strengthening critical thinking,
writing, and verbal communication skills are a focus of the program.
The Chican@ Studies courses address contemporary and historical issues
that arise in response to political, economic, and cultural realities of
Chican@s in the United States. Courses critically engage in themes and methods
of study about:

- Gender
