Common Course Numbering
Effective Fall Quarter 2008

Washington’s Community and Technical Colleges want to make it easier for students to transfer credits among the State’s 34 community and technical colleges. We are currently transitioning to a Common Course Numbering system — meaning that the same courses will be titled and numbered in a similar way at every community and technical college in the state.

There are a number of changes in course names and numbers for Yakima Valley Community College. The changes should help you know that a course you have taken at one Washington college is the same at another, and the course will transfer easily.

The Common Course Number List below reflects the courses at YVCC that have been identified for Common Course Numbering. Departments may add courses to this list as a result of ongoing assessment of curriculum equivalency. The list will be updated on a regular basis. Common courses are identified by an “&” following the department abbreviation. Transfer courses that are not identified as common will still transfer under the Direct Transfer Agreement as in the past.

If you have any questions, please contact the Registrar in the Enrollment Services Office, (509)574-4702.
