The mission of the YAK Fitness/Wellness Center, integrated with the Physical Education-Recreation-Wellness Department at Yakima Valley Community College, is to provide a campus facility that allows the students, staff, faculty, and the Yakima Valley community members to engage in the pursuit of physical fitness and wellness.
The YAK Fitness/Wellness Center, through its strong educational domains, is also dedicated to increasing the physical, health, and mental wellbeing of each client/student to meet the daily, fast-paced demands placed of body by college/occupation, and increase awareness and proactive concerns about self-care. |

| Objectives |

The YAK Fitness/Wellness Center objectives are:
To create an inviting, friendly atmosphere welcoming people at all levels of fitness.
To educate and encourage fitness that provokes the concept of "total body fitness."
To offer wellness/fitness course instruction that develops a solid foundation of physical fitness components, student understanding, the internal drive to meet personalized wellness/fitness goals.
To educate and promote to the YVCC campus members and the Yakima Valley community the positive benefits of wellness, health, and physical fitness.
To be receptive and proactive to the unique needs of the various constituents that use the facility.
To ensure a quality, state-of-the-art environment where intercollegiate athletic team members can develop the optimal level of fitness and sport specific skill that provides them the competitive edge on the field/court/mat.
To offer injury preventive, proactive care techniques, and excellent rehabilitation services for the YVCC athletic department and advisory care prevention services to YVCC employees.
To serve as a professional development employment opportunity for students who qualify for work-study and the international students. Student employees assist in the daily operation, upkeep, fitness supervision,and client/member encouragement and teaching professional instructing serving others through providing and sharing educational information in fitness/wellness aspect of life. |

The YAK Fitness/Wellness Center, located in Sherar Gym on the YVCC campus, offers an inviting atmosphere for registered members of any fitness level the unlimited opportunity to stay true in beginning, maintaining, or building your personal health and fitness.
Our newly remodeled and expanded facility offers ample space to ensure that the YVCC Fitness/Wellness Center helps to fullfill the YAK's Fitness dedication to building healthy habits and promoting physical and emotional wellbeing through fitness.
