The Running Start Program is a partnership between Yakima Valley Community College and Washington State public high schools. The program offers eligible high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to enroll in regular college classes on the YVCC campus and to receive both high school and college credit for those classes.

Students may choose to attend YVCC part-time or full-time. Running Start students do not pay college tuition for 18 or fewer college level credits each quarter; however, all other costs must be paid by the student, including lab fees, mandatory college and student voted fees, transportation and necessary books/supplies.  Running Start DOES NOT cover over 18 credits or courses that are below college level.  Students will need to pay full tuition and fees for those credits.  Tuition costs are published in the YVCC quarterly schedule online.

YVCC offers a low-income fee waiver for qualified students.
